The newest cosplay idea rolling around our collective heads is Ao no Exorcist. I haven’t watched it all yet, but I’ve seen bits and pieces and its quite good. For Halloween Zompire and MisForMurder did a “closet” cosplay of Rin and Yukio. Which essentially means we raided our closets to find outfits that would “work” for the characters without being the exact outfits they wear, since we don’t have them yet.

Zompire’s been assigned two rolls, one being Yukio Okumura and the other being crazy Mephisto. MisForMurder is going to do Rin Okumura and Amaimon. Jabi has been assigned to Shimei, who is super adorable. We’ve been doing our outfit pricing and planning even though we don’t have a set date for a photoshoot. Feel free to share any links to cosplay shops you think might help! We love new ideas.

Anyway, my first task is to make a tail for Rin, so I’ll be sure to post some progress shots if it goes well. Below is a picture from the boys’ Halloween costumes.

Christmas is right around the corner and that means ALA (Anime Los Angeles) isn’t that far off either. While MisForMurder and Jabi go to ALA almost every year, Zompire and I have yet to go. Its supposed to be on the smaller side, like the East Coast cons Zompire and I went to in high school, so we’re looking forward to a relaxing con weekend. The con may be relaxed but the cosplay schedule is going to be crazy! Nothing is really set in stone yet, but its going to be super packed.

As far as con prep goes, MisForMurder is pretty much set. We have to alter his Ranma from Ranma 1/2 and Zompire’s Ryouga wig needs to be restyled. Jabi, I believe has to make Ino from Naruto Shippuden, and I’ll be handling her Rory from Teahouse. I’ll also be making Zompire’s Asuma from Naruto Shippuden, but that’s done aside from his waist wrap. I’ll also be making Zompire’s Axis from Teahouse and styling that wig. I should really get started. My mom is actually making my Claret from Teahouse and the Blue Princess from Fat Princess. Those are both too advanced for me and Jabi’s pressed for time. She’ll also be making Zompire’s Blue Worker from Fat Princess. We gotta get started! Oh man!

I don’t have any progress shots so far, but I’ll be sure to post some when I do.

Welcome to the first entry of our Bat Country Blog. I’ve been supposed to get this and our website up and running for what… a year now? Yeah… So I can be a bit of a slacker if its not work or school related. My apologies. Anyway, as an introductory post to our blog, I’ll tell you a bit about us and share one or two pics of our cosplays. Since the website isn’t up and running yet, I figure this will be the easiest way for people to know a little bit more about us.

To start, do you know what cosplay is? No? Well, a general definition is : short for “costume play”, is a type of performance art in which participants don costumes and accessories to represent a specific character or idea. Characters are often drawn from popular fiction in Japan.

Its like Halloween every day! Awesome.

Anyway, BCC has four main members and its easiest to know us by our “stage names,” which are really just the names we use online. MisForMurder (M-is-for-murder), Jabi, Zompire, and me, Luna. Below, I’ll give you a little more information on each of us, nothing personal, and one or two pictures.

 

MisForMurder

- Founding Member of BCC, cosplaying for I don’t even know how long. Best known for Sasuke Uchiha from Naruto. He’s the one who keeps us motivated, plans our shoots, organizes meets and groups at conventions, and takes our photos or directs the photographer. Honestly, he can probably make anyone look good when he’s the photographer.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Jabi

-Founding member of Bat Country Cosplay. Cosplaying since the Digimon days. Amazing seamstress and wig stylist. Makes all of her own outfits and most of MisForMurder’s outfits. Also styles all of our wigs. Usually handles hotel booking and convention registration. Best known for Chidori from Persona 3 or Minato from Persona 3, in my opinion.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Zompire

-New addition to Bat Country Cosplay. Dragged into by all three of us. As my significant other, he puts up with it well and is even beginning to get a bit of an ego for it. Likes to make goofy faces which can make things difficult sometimes. The group muscle. Need heavy bags carried? He’s got it. Helps with prop making, especially heavy things. Best known from Kakashi from Naruto and Shizuo from Durarara!!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Luna

-Newest cosplayer addition, but I’ve been the photographer and prop maker for a while. Somewhat limited in my character options but new possibilities are always presenting themselves. Equipment tech, photographer, prop maker, new seamstress and learning to style wigs. Best known for Chouji from Naruto. (Really, that’s all I’ve got night now.)
